Make your own Strawberry Ice Cream…in a bag!

January 15th is National Strawberry Ice Cream Day! To celebrate, we put together a fun, tasty way to make strawberry ice-cream in a bag!

You’ll need:

Lots of Ice Cubes
1 cup of heavy cream

1/2 cup of table salt or sea salt

2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 medium ziplock bag
1 large ziplock bag or large freezer bag
A few handfuls of frozen or fresh, chopped strawberries

Step 1:

Mix the the cream, sugar and vanilla extract in the medium ziplock bag. Seal the bag tightly, so none of the liquid will come out.

Step 2:

Prepare the Ice bag

Fill the large ziplock bag about halfway with ice cubes. Sprinkle the salt salt over the ice cubes.

Step 3: Put the the medium bag with the cream, sugar and vanilla into the other bag of ice and salt.  Seal the large bag. If the big begins to leak, you can use two bags.

Step 4:  Shake the bag for 5-10 minutes until the ice cream mixture begins to harden. Feel the small bag to see if the ice cream is the desired consistency.  Once you are happy with the consistency,  remove the small bag from the bag of ice.

Step 5: Open the bag with the ice cream, and mix in the strawberries. Enjoy!
